“I Am” is a representation of my faith and a testimony of my relationship with Jesus and His sacrifice. “I Am” is denoted as one of the names of God mentioned in the Bible when He speaks to Moses at the burning bush. The primary message of the song is to exhibit that Christ is within us all and is exhibited by the voice of the singer going between 1, myself as a child of God discovering the truth and accepting the freedom gifted by Jesus’ sacrifice, and 2, as the voice of God and Jesus speaking their story.
My first experience with the song came while recording an acoustic version of a previous song, Deliverance, which was about my deliverance to faith. I’ve never had an experience of a melody or words coming to me so subconsciously, it was almost like an outer body experience, and it just flowed without thought or plan, and so was the start of something special. It is the also the first song that is set apart from my usual style of writing with loops.
Biblical Reference: Exodus 3:14, God reveals his personal name to Moses as אֶהְיֶה אֲשֶׁר אֶהְיֶה (Ehyeh Asher Ehyeh) which translates directly to “I Am”.
